Comments: | FOX-NY was derived from the NS-1 myeloma cell line. It is resistant to analogs of both adenosine and guanine (e.g., 2,6-diaminopurine and 8-azaguanine) as a result of deficiencies in hypoxanthine phosphoribosyl transferase (HPRT, HGPRT) and adenosine phosphoribosyl transferase (APRT). When used as the immortal partner in a fusion using B cells from a female mouse with the Rb(8.12) translocation, there is a positive selection for the immunoglobulin heavy chain locus. If the fusion products are grown in the presence of aminopterin, adenine and thymidine (or azaserine and adenine). Selection for the Igh locus results in more stable antibody production in the resulting hybridomas. Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
