Synonyms: | Daoy |
Background: | The Daoy cell line was established in 1985 by P. F Jacobsen of the Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia. The line was derived from biopsy material taken from a tumor in the posterior fossa of a 4 year old boy |
Species: | Homo sapiens, human |
Tissue: | brain/cerebellum |
Disease: | desmoplastic cerebellar medulloblastoma |
Gender: | Caucasian,male,4 years |
Morphology: | polygonal |
Growth Mode: | adherent |
DNA Profile: | Amelogenin: X CSF1PO: 11 D13S317: 13,14 D16S539: 10 D5S818: 11,13 D7S820: 8,10 THO1: 9 TPOX: 8,10 vWA: 14,20 Cobioer’s Cell Line Authentication Service |
Culture Medium: |
MEM + 10% FBS+ 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 1mM Sodium Pyruvate (NaP) Daoy完全培养基,# CBP60713M |
Cryopreservation medium: | 90%FBS+10%DMSO |
Tumor Formation: | Yes, in nude mice,(The cells form serially transplantable intercranial and subcutaneous tumors.) |
Comments: | Although the original tumor had characteristics of both neuronal and glial differentiation, these were not retained by the cell line. Treatment of the cells with dibutyryl cyclic amp (cAMP) does not induce expression of those characteristics as measured by staining for S100 (S-100) protein and glial fibrillary acidic proteins (GFAP).
